I like buying games retail if for no other reason than I abhor the painstaking process of waiting for stuff to arrive in the mail. That, and I live within walking distance of a couple Gamestops, and contrary to many reports, the employees at the Gamestops near me generally know what they're talking about. But I may just be lucky that way.
In the first year I owned a Wii I had a good 6 good games for it: Zelda, Mario Galaxy, Metroid, Trauma Center, Zack & Wiki, and Super Paper Mario. That is not a small number for a year, let alone a console's first year. Comparatively, after the 360 had been out for a year there were only maybe two or three games that interested me and the same goes for the PS3, if you're only looking at exclusives. After that, however, in 2008 I only found myself buying two games on the Wii for the whol...
Mass Effect was definitely a step in the right direction with the mo-capping and voice-acting, but then it's even more jarring when you go back to the previous branch or hear dialogue repeated. I do need to play Indigo Prophecy, though I may just wait for Heavy Rain.
I think Mirror's Edge is the closest thing we've seen to how to make a Sonic game work in 3D. And even that game had its problems, but the idea was good. Maybe first-person wouldn't be a bad move either as then I wouldn't have to look at the ugly bastard.
I wish Starcraft 2 was on the Wii. I hate gaming on my PC, but the original Starcraft was one of my favorite games of all time. The Wiimote would be perfect for a mouse sub, and I could put up with low-fi graphics.
At the very least, the game would spread awareness about these issues and make people who would otherwise know little about them to start doing some research. Furthermore, given that films have been tackling hot-button issues for decades, it seems like games should do the same.
As someone who spends roughly 98% of his gaming time in single-player and finds multiplayer more often than not detracts from the overall product, I have to say that KZ2 should have had co-op. I mean all the split paths in the level design practically demanded it. It's not like RE5 where it fundamentally changes the game. It doesn't seem like it would have been much more effort to implement.
I will say this about the Wii- it can play every console Zelda game ever made. That in an of itself is enough to keep someone who loves gaming, but doesn't have a lot of time busy for a good long while.
Am I the only one who doesn't think of Uncharted as an adventure game? Sure, it had an "adventure" setting, story, puzzles, and platforming, but at the end of the day, the game was something like 70-80% shooting. If you were to include that, you'd have to include games like Metroid Prime, Metroid non-prime, Castlevania games, etc, etc... which would be fine, but there's probably enough great action/adventure games to do a top 30 of just those.
The great thing about a PSP2 is that it'll make the first one dirt cheap. Enough so that I may finally get around to buying one, if only for Patapon reasons.
My issue with the game is that it's inaccessible to the newcomer. I had 2 different friends come over and try playing the game with me, both who hadn't played RE4, and both gave up after 20 minutes due to frustration. The inventory management is especially tricky for a newcomer to wrap their head around (like combining herbs for example).
I always wanted to play the first Crysis, but lacked the hardware. I sure hope this turns out to be true about the sequel.
The lack of Grim Fandango is unforgivable. Maybe you'll get it right in the next life.
Excited for the new Zelda, but not too keen on the whole train thing. Sticking on a track seems even more restrictive than sailing.
I am happy to report that none of these are true of me. (Breathes sigh of relief). Though if I had an ipod, I'd be guilty of #10.
Wow! And I thought that was photoshopped.
When you're on top, there's nowhere to go, but down. Granted I think it will be a very subtle decline. I mean they're Nintendo. They're not going anywhere.
If they're going to go with Big Sisters I say they also need Little Brothers. Who's with me on this?
Nothing says X-mas like "Devil" in Spanish.
Interesting as I found the cutscenes less charming than the actual stuff that happens in the game. Though there are major pacing/grinding issues if you're not playing on a file that's already beaten the game, so I can get where you're coming from if that's what you're referring to.
